The Significance of Seeking Knowledge
Assalamualaikum everyone! Shafiyyah here! for our first Usrah, we were given a task to comment on a video. We were given two video options and I chose this one:
Mufti Menk explained everything beautifully and also easy to understand. First, he explained that if you don't know something, you should ask. He quoted a verse from Surah an-Nahl verse 43. Personally, this is something that I've been struggling with since I was younger. Whenever there was a parents-teachers conference, my teachers always had to say I was 'too quiet'. The truth is, I had many questions. Sometimes I didn't understand what I was learning at all. I was too shy to ask. I was afraid that my questions sound stupid. I was scared that I would look foolish. Which then, Mufti Menk explained in the video if you're shy, you will never learn. Contentment comes from knowledge. If I wasn't willing to take on my fear of asking, I will never assimilate knowledge or be content. Till this day, I'm still struggling to ask my lecturers questions because I feel like a burden for not understanding instantly. I am trying to fix that soon InsyaAllah.
He also mentioned that if you know the contentment of gaining knowledge, you will fight to be the seeker of knowledge. This statement changed the way I perceive education. Seeking knowledge is undeniably exhausting. Many of us want to give up midway. We still kept going to make of family and teachers proud. We kept going because we want to be someone beneficial to society. Without knowledge, none of these will be obtained. Those who seek knowledge, Allah will ease their path towards Jannah.
I learnt so much from this 12 minutes video. I highly recommend everyone to check it out. I am looking forward to my next Usrah session. May we benefit from this together InsyaAllah. Thank you and Assalamualaikum :)
